First Mother’s Milk Bank Opens in AP

A major milestone in child healthcare was achieved as Namrata Shirodkar, trustee of the Mahesh Babu Foundation, inaugurated Andhra Pradesh’s first Mothers’ Milk Bank at Andhra Hospitals, Vijayawada.

In collaboration with Rotary Club of Vijayawada and Rotary International, the milk bank aims to provide safe, pasteurized donor breast milk to newborns whose mothers are unable to breastfeed—helping over 7,200 infants annually. This life-saving facility ensures critically ill and premature babies receive the essential nutrition they need to thrive.

Speaking at the event, Namrata Shirodkar emphasized, “Breast milk is vital for an infant’s survival and development. This initiative is a step toward a healthier future for our children.”

The Mahesh Babu Foundation remains committed to its mission of transforming lives through improved access to quality healthcare for children and mothers across India.
